Five Awesome Birthday Party Favors That Aren’t Candy

Throwing a child’s birthday party can be a great deal of fun for all involved.  However, when it comes to handing out favors, it can be a bit frustrating.  After all, you don’t want to waste your money on the toys and trinkets that are lost or broken an hour later.  And, the other parents really don’t want you to hand over a bag of candy for the road.  So, be creative in your approach.

Chalkboard and Chalk chalkboard paint has made it easier than every to create something fun on a small budget.  In fact, you might not even need it, because several craft stores sell the mini chalkboards in bulk.  Attach a small box or baggie of chalk to each board, write the name of the child on the front and you have a terrific, reusable party favor.

S’more in a Bag A couple of Graham crackers, a marshmallow, and a bite size chocolate bar placed in a small, sealable gift bag creates a great party favor.  Dress is up with a little ribbon and a personalized gift tag, and it will make a big impact. Though sugary, it is far less substantial than a bag of multiple treats, and, if you are throwing an evening party, you can have the kids cook and eat their favors around the fire.

Beach in a Bucket Small beach pails are inexpensive, especially toward the end of summer.  They often come with a shovel already attached.  Throw in a ready-to-inflate beach ball, and a small thing of bubbles for a perfect beach-themed favor.

Silly Sipping A party favor can be a lot of fun without being unhealthy.  In fact, hand each of the kids a bottle of water, a packet of powdered flavoring, and a silly straw.  They’ll stay hydrated and have fun doing so.

Grow with Me Garden Little terracotta pots are often about $1 each.  Fill each with a seed packet and a little shovel.  It is the perfect present for the youngest nature lovers.
