If you’re wondering how to honor the most important women in your life on their special day but you’re out of ideas, the content of this article might be helpful for you as there are a few things we can suggest for you to do with your mother, the mother of your children or any other mom that you hold very dear.

At the beginning of the day, one of the most important things is to start off with the right food and full of energy. Is your mom an early bird or does she like sleeping in? If she rises up with the sun, you might need to make an effort and wake up before she does, and if she likes to sleep in, perhaps you’ll have a bit more time to organize things. Ideally, a nice breakfast or a special brunch –whether you make it or order it- will get your mom in the right mood for a pleasant and unforgettable mother’s day. Bring her breakfast to bed or decorate a beautiful brunch table for her. Remember that the details and the thoughtfulness play a massive role in this.

Bring the family together, if your family extends beyond your parents. There are probably other mothers in your family who deserve to be celebrated too. Grandmothers, aunts, sisters and/or in-laws should be welcomed and celebrated. Put together a nice BBQ in your garden or, if you prefer the interiors, a beautiful dinner or lunch.

Plan a day together with the women you want to celebrate and include their favorite activities. You can plan a spa day at home or at a professional facility. A picnic could also be a great idea or perhaps a trip to a picturesque nearby town or to the countryside. The trick lies in breaking the routine, sharing some quality time and making new and unforgettable memories for the future. If the person you’re celebrating is very active, try a sports event or race in which she can participate, and, for the riskiest of them all, an adventurous activity like skydiving or something of the sort can create the perfect and most memorable experience.

If the latter seems a bit extra, you could try planning a simple celebration at home, at an event facility or at a local establishment. It doesn’t have to be expensive or too complicated, a thoughtful meal with nice decor and your best attitude could be just perfect on its own. Being a mom can be quite stressful and having a break is probably what they wish for the most, which brings us to the next recommendation: if you don’t have the time or the resources to plan something for mom, try giving her the day off.

Don’t complain to her, don’t make a mess she will have to sort out, clean up after yourself and try to make things as easy for her as possible. No cooking, no cleaning, no working, just let her sit back, relax and enjoy a nice beverage and her favorite snack whilst reading a good book or watching her favorite TV show.
