Did You Overlook These Details When Planning the Graduation Party?

Many schools have already hosted graduations, others are in the works right now, and that means that it is party season.  If you are a parent of a graduate and planning a party, there are a few details that you won’t want to overlook.

Tent Rental If you wake up and find that the forecast was wrong, that the sky is full of ominous clouds, it’s going to be a bit late to change the venue or find an available tent.  Be sure that you are prepared.  It is generally safer to opt for an indoor venue this time of the year, but you can typically get away with an outdoor party, as long as you have some sort of cover available for those who want to escape the rain or the intense heat.

Entertainment Many people forego the DJ or live band in favor of a stereo or MP3 player.  If you are going to opt for the latter, be sure that you have several hours’ worth of appropriate music in your playlist, so you don’t have to spend the entire time loading songs.  Unless you already own most of the music, you might find that it is easier and more cost effective to hire a DJ, who can manage the music, and any announcements that need to be made during the event.  This can take some of the stress off of your shoulders.

Photographer It might not be a wedding, but it certainly isn’t a time that you want to forget either.  Be sure that pictures are being captured of the big event.  This may mean hiring a professional photographer, or it could mean asking those in attendance to snap some shots and share them to a particular social page or with a certain hashtag, so they can be downloaded later.

Thank You Notes and Envelopes This is something that is commonly overlooked until after the party is done, but buying these in advance can save you a lot of time.  Rather than collecting addresses and filling out the envelopes, you can place a pile on the table, beside assign in book or other signable souvenir, and ask each person to fill out an envelope with his or her name and address.
