Collaborative parties: Receive the New Year toasting with strangers

We are in the “collaborative” era. Driven by apps, social networking and a change of mentality; it is now possible to share a car, a house to spend the summer, and even the baby sitter who takes care of the children. That spirit moved to offices and freshened the traditional New Year’s Eve toast. No long speeches or other formalities, shared parties are a growing trend.

Bring together people from different companies, accessing a mega event for the same price of a smaller one. Small agencies, studios or small businesses that have few employees and a limited budget usually get involved. In some cases, when companies decide to pass on the party, a group of workers on their own can still be booked.

Some event planners offer a service under this modality. It costs $1,300 to $ 1,900 per person, depending on the location in the room. It includes food, dancing and live shows. In 2016, 54 companies participated, with a total of 2,200 guests in one of these parties. This year the same company hopes to double the amount, since due to a high demand they had to add a second date.

This is a trend that is gaining ground. In recent years, there was a boom of small businesses and boutique agencies which discovered a new need in the market. Being a few employees, they seek to share experiences and good times with other people.

Regarding the budget, the advantage lies in being able to buy places and rent the space. So the service is contracted by paying only the stage or the table. For a staging of such an event much is invested in the setting, cleaning, food, shows and more.

In the end, the party resembles a nightclub, there’s dancing and it’s a lot of fun. The economic factor is also a great influencer of the decision. People measure that if they do the meeting on their own, could spend the same, but the party would be much smaller.

However, to participate in a “collaborative” event has pros and cons. It’s not a corporate party, but it is not a private one either. To have more exclusivity, A VIP area can be added and people who want access to it can pay around $12,000.
